PROJECT OWNER
NJ Department of Transportation
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This project entailed the widening of Sections 10b and 11c of Route 29, including the construction of a 700-meter, four-lane tunnel as well as realignment and widening of a portion of Route 29. This project had a design/build approach which required the advancement of the plans from 30% completion to contract drawings.
KS Engineers, P.C. (KSE) provided complete traffic signalization, and roadway and tunnel lighting systems design services, as part of the final design/build project for this section of Route 29. KSE’s scope of work included a traffic study, warrant analysis, level of service, and complete design of permanent and temporary signalized intersections. The lighting design included the preparation of contract documents for a new tunnel lighting system (the first in New Jersey) and roadway lighting systems in accordance with current standards. A roadway lighting analysis was performed utilizing CalaPro software. A tunnel lighting analysis was prepared utilizing NJDOT-specified “Tunnel-Lite” software. All electrical plans were prepared in accordance with NJDOT CADD standards in MicroStation Version J.
