PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The new 18,000-seat, state-of-the-art Newark/New Jersey Devils Arena was planned as the centerpiece of the city’s Downtown Core Redevelopment Project, a proposed commercial complex of retail shops, hotels, office buildings and parking decks. The 700,000-square-foot, $310 million sports and entertainment arena was intended to restore Newark as a major regional destination.

KS Engineers, P.C. (KSE) provided all foundation design, shop drawing review, and construction support services for the entire arena complex. The foundations of the arena complex were designed as spread footings on improved in-situ soil. Dynamic compaction was utilized to improve the existing soils to the required bearing capacity.
