PROJECT DESCRIPTION

KSE will provide the following services under a design team lead by the Architectural firm of CUH2A. 

  • Boundary Survey
  • Site/Civil Engineering
  • Geotechnical Engineering
  • Traffic Engineering

The overall scope of this project is to provide programming, schematic design and detailed design Architectural / Engineering) services for the Academic Research Expansion Building (AREB) on the Camden campus of UMDNJ for the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (RWJMS) as well as renovation of the existing UMDNJ Education and Research Building located on the UMDNJ Camden Campus.

The five story building will provide 160,000 gross square feet of new space for research and education.  The new building entrance will be at the corner of Benson Street and Broadway and there will be an entry plaza/atrium with seating for student and patient gathering. This new building entrance will be diagonally across the street (Broadway) from the new Cooper Hospital Parking Garage, currently under construction, where parking will be made available for students, faculty and staff. The service entrance will be off Washington Street. 

In addition, the project scope will include the complete Architectural/Engineering (A/E) Services as required for programming, schematic and detailed design for the renovation of the existing UMDNJ Education and Research Building located on the UMDNJ Camden Campus.

The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) is the state's university of the health sciences, with programs at five (5) main academic health center campuses in Newark, Piscataway, New Brunswick, Stratford, and Camden, and at educational and health care institutions in communities throughout the state.

Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (RWJMS) has approximately 500 residents in 34 accredited graduate medical education programs in the areas of anesthesia, occupational medicine, family medicine, medicine, neurology, obstetrics/gynecology, pathology, pediatrics, psychiatry, radiology and surgery.
