This project consists of the rehabilitation of the Route 35 Bridge over the Manasquan River. The 1018 foot bridge with nine spans carries four lanes of traffic with a movable span. The work is to be performed in three stages while maintaining traffic. The project includes replacement of the concrete deck, including the installation of two new girders, on the existing piers. The bulkheads will be replaced at the North and South abutments and the fender system will be replaced at piers for the moveable span. The entire gate and electrical system will be replaced and a new monitoring room will be constructed for the moveable span. The contractor will be responsible for operation of the moveable span during the life of the project. The project includes cleaning and painting of existing structural steel. Construction is anticipated to begin September 20, 2006. The project is scheduled to be substantially complete by September 29, 2009, and to be complete by November 13, 2009.
KSE will provide construction inspection services for this project. KSE inspection personnel will be responsible for bridge construction, which will include steel erection, concrete deck demolition and construction, electrical/mechanical repairs and/or construction for moveable bridges, cleaning and painting of existing structural steel, fender/bulkhead construction including piles, and work over navigable waters.
