PROJECT NAME
Construction Supervision and Inspection Services – Parking Facilities for Cortlandt Station Parking and Intermodal Access Improvements
PROJECT OWNER
MTA Metro-North Railroad
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Metro-North Railroad (MNR) sought to undertake the improvement/expansion of the parking facilities at the Cortlandt Station on the Hudson Line in Cortlandt Manor, New York. The redesign of the existing parking and access facilities will bring them to current MNR standards, ensure their compliance with ADA regulations, and improve overall vehicular and pedestrian circulation. Phased construction was critical, as the station was already operating at full capacity, and parking spaces needed to be optimized for work elements in the existing lot, overpass, and station platform.
KS Engineers, P.C. (KSE) was part of the Construction Management team, responsible for construction supervision and inspection services associated with the construction activities involved with the parking lot expansion and access facilities improvements. Prior to the start of construction work, these services included a review of the project requirements, familiarization with MNR railroad operations, any necessary coordination with outside agencies or organizations, and establishment of a project file to be maintained at the project site. During construction, KSE conducted field inspection and testing of work done by the contractor, as well as materials used.
KSE also participated in conducting final inspections for acceptance of the work and close-out of the contract, as well as ensuring the submission of final “as-built” drawings, records, and documentation.
