The Keio Academy of New York is a high school affiliated with Keio University in Japan which offers bilingual education in grades nine through twelve. The 27 acre campus includes dormitories and a cafeteria as well as academic and administrative facilities.
Carroll Gordon was the Landscape Architect responsible for designing and preparing all site documents from Preliminary phase through construction documents to final punch list for this project. The campus includes a pond which also serves as a stormwater detention basin. Carroll supervised the arrangement of huge boulders in and around the pond that were encountered during excavation to add to the natural effect. The plantings include Asian and Japanese species that acknowledge the school’s international significance.
