Mr. Kamal Shahid, P.E., is the Founder and President/Chief Executive Officer of KS Engineers, P.C. (KSE), which he established in 1991 with a vision to deliver high-quality, client-focused engineering services to public and private sector clients throughout the Northeast. Under his leadership, KSE has grown into a nationally recognized firm, consistently ranked among Engineering News-Record’s Top 500 Design Firms, and a leading provider of engineering, surveying, and construction management services.
Mr. Shahid brings over 30 years of diverse experience in the planning, design, and delivery of complex infrastructure and facility projects. His expertise spans a wide range of project types, including design-build contracts, transportation infrastructure, municipal and government facilities, academic institutions, and athletic and recreational venues. He has demonstrated proficiency across all phases of project delivery, including feasibility studies, preliminary and final design, construction inspection, and construction management, with a strong focus on quality, safety, and cost-effective solutions.
Prior to founding KSE, Mr. Shahid served as a Project Manager with NJ TRANSIT, where he was responsible for the inspection, evaluation, and maintenance of bridge structures statewide. He also held key roles with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) and PATH (Port Authority Trans-Hudson Corporation), where he managed inspection, rehabilitation, and capital improvement programs. Notably, he directed the Tunnel Liner Bolt Replacement Program for PATH tunnels beneath the Hudson River, a critical infrastructure initiative requiring specialized engineering expertise and complex construction coordination.
As President and CEO, Mr. Shahid provides executive leadership and strategic direction for the firm, overseeing corporate quality assurance, financial performance, client relations, marketing, and business development. He is instrumental in establishing long-term growth strategies, expanding service offerings, and maintaining KSE’s reputation for technical excellence and responsive service delivery.
Mr. Shahid holds a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in New York and New Jersey and has been twice nominated as “Engineer of the Year” by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), North Jersey Branch and Section. He is an active member of the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) in both New York and New Jersey, where he serves on multiple committees, contributing to industry advocacy and professional advancement.
