Mr. Mitchell Aldea serves as Vice President of the Structures Department at KS Engineers, P.C. (KSE), bringing over 30 years of distinguished experience in structural engineering, asset management, and infrastructure inspection. He joined KSE in September 2015 following a long and accomplished career with the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey (PANYNJ).
During his tenure at PANYNJ, Mr. Aldea held progressively responsible leadership roles, most notably serving as Manager of the Structural Integrity Unit within the Quality Assurance Division (QAD) from 2009 to 2015. In this capacity, he was responsible for overseeing the evaluation, inspection, and maintenance strategies for critical infrastructure assets, ensuring they were maintained in a State of Good Repair. His contributions to asset management, structural evaluation, and quality assurance earned him multiple PANYNJ Gold Star Awards in recognition of exceptional performance.
Mr. Aldea has extensive experience in the inspection, analysis, and rehabilitation of complex structural systems, including bridges, transportation facilities, and other critical infrastructure assets. He has played a key role in developing and implementing comprehensive inspection and maintenance programs, incorporating best practices to enhance safety, reliability, and long-term asset performance. His technical expertise is complemented by a strong understanding of regulatory requirements, inspection standards, and lifecycle asset management.
At KSE, Mr. Aldea provides leadership and technical oversight for structural engineering and inspection services, managing multidisciplinary teams across a diverse portfolio of projects. He is recognized for his ability to oversee multiple concurrent assignments, optimize team performance, and deliver high-quality results within schedule and budget constraints. His collaborative approach and strong client engagement skills have enabled him to build and maintain long-standing relationships with public agencies and industry partners.
A committed mentor and effective communicator, Mr. Aldea fosters team development, knowledge sharing, and innovative problem-solving to address complex engineering challenges. He holds both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Engineering from the Institute of Civil and Structural Engineering in Bucharest, Romania.
