KS Engineers, P.C. (KSE) consulted on the assessment, at a sketch planning level, of the physical and operational feasibility and order-of–magnitude costs of re-using the Rockaway Beach Branch of the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) between the Rockaway peninsula and the New York City Transit (NYCT) Queens Boulevard Line, including service at potential intermediate stations in Central Queens.
Also, under consideration in Phase 2 of the project, KSE was asked to consult in the determination of the physical, operational, and cost feasibility of providing a one-seat-ride rail service from Penn Station and/or Grand Central Terminal in Manhattan to JFK Airport, with additional stations in-between. We were asked to take into account preferred alignment, constructability, and operating and cost-effectiveness for this service to be operated by the LIRR.
