KS Engineers, P.C. (KSE) was retained by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to perform a condition survey of 355 high mast lighting structures at John F. Kennedy International Airport
The purpose of the condition survey is to determine the overall condition of the high mast lighting structures, to identify any structural or non-structural deficiencies (immediate, priority, safety, routine) that might present potential safety hazards and to develop recommendations for correcting any deficiencies that were found.
All high mast lighting structures are getting a 100% hands-on inspection of all structural members as well as the exposed foundations and bases, including anchor bolts and base plate welds. The inspection did not include the electrical and mechanical equipment; just the supports for the equipment were inspected. Ultrasonic D-meter readings will be taken at a minimum of four locations near the base of the poles plus one location 3 feet above base.
