Project Description

As the prime consultant, KS Engineers, P.C. (KSE) has been retained to provide construction inspection support services for this $17,807,000 project located in Westchester County, NY. The project was comprised of the Ravensdale Avenue Bridge Replacement. The work on this project consisted of the complete removal and replacement of the two-simple-span structure with a 212-foot-long span, with semi-integral abutments bridge superstructure.

Construction of a new quarter-mile-long South Country Trailway included the existing bridge over the Saw Mill River rehabilitation for this project.

The project also consisted of modifications to the existing box culvert carrying Ravensdale Road over the Saw Mill River. This work included the construction of a MSES wall with aesthetic treatment and construction of permanent steel sheeting wingwalls with precast cladding attached.

Construction of a new 12” diameter, high-pressure transmittal gas main; construction of the underground nine-duct electric bank where each duct is six inches in diameter, overhead electric line relocation, and other utility relocations associated with the new bridge construction were part of this project.

KSE staff members performed detailed inspection and on-site field testing of materials and other construction activities as necessary, including field measurement and collection of data necessary to submit monthly and final estimates and progress reports, and preparation of record plans showing all changes from the contract plans. All records were kept in accordance with the Manual for Uniform Record Keeping (MURK). In addition, the Resident Engineer maintained the Engineer’s Daily Project Diary, describing the progress of the work, specific issues encountered, and other pertinent information relative to the execution of the contract work.
