MTA New York City Transit issued this Task Order to obtain a consultant to provide various services to verify ADA feasibility study, to develop Master Plan and to prepare Design-Build documents for the ADA Upgrade of the Mosholu Parkway station; Jerome Avenue Line; IRT Division; Borough of The Bronx.
KSE Engineers, P.C. (KSE) provided the following services:
- Established primary horizontal and vertical control points. Additional secondary points was established on an as needed basis). A minimum of two inter-visible points were set on each street level, platform level and the mezzanine level. Where needed, a high precision, 3D traverse was run using Leica TPS1101 total stations to carry control values to non-GPS locations. The traverse data was closed and adjusted using a Compass Rule or a Least Squares adjustment.
- Topographic & Utility Survey. The street level topographic and utility survey was performed using a Leica ScanStation P-20 laser scanner and shall encompass the area above the entire platform and one hundred and fifty feet into the tunnels. The scanner and scan targets shall occupy the survey control points to geo-reference the 3D scan data.
- Major third party utilities were identified and noted. Existing railroad utilities were also located both by field investigation and agency database searches. Underground utilities at street level were mapped based on record drawings obtained from the utility owners and correlated with above ground utility features such as manholes, valves, etc. Copies of the record drawings were provided as part of the final deliverable.
A detailed topographic survey was performed, to tie in critical planimetric, utility and topographic features, such as, buildings, surface utilities and visible surface hardware, etc. to allow for proper design considerations. In addition, the station communication room will be surveyed if accessible at the time of the survey.The field survey was performed utilizing a combination of conventional electronic total station surveying systems, procedures and techniques and 3D laser scanning to capture data and information.
