KS Engineers, P.C. (KSE) has been retained to provide supervision of construction services under Contract No. P200.252. The work to be performed under this contract consists of the widening of the Northbound (NB) and Southbound (SB) left and right shoulders of the Garden State Parkway with new Parkway pavement, reconstruct replacing eight (8) GSP mainline bridges over local roadways utilizing staged construction including raising the profile of four bridges to current standards, construction of stormwater management facilities including detention/recharge basins some of which contain recharge swales and gabion basket weir structures, lengthening roadside area acceleration and deceleration lanes of the GSP Interchange 30 NB entrance and SB ramps, replacing upgrade the existing roadway lighting system at Interchange 30 to meet current standards, and ITS system upgrades. The final stage of the project involves the asphalt placement of an asphalt-rubber open-graded friction course complete with new thermoplastic striping, signs, delineators, mile markers, pavement reflectors, and rumble strips. The proposed roadway and bridge typical sections will include 12-foot left and right shoulders throughout the five-mile section of the GSP to accommodate a future roadway widening within the service life of the new bridge. The following Atlantic County Steelmanville Road (CR651), Zion Road (CR-615) and Mill Road (CR-662). The proposed bridge clearances will be increased to the latest standards along with the horizontal clearances between the north and south abutments to provide access for pedestrians in the surrounding communities to will be increased at Ocean Heights Avenue and Mill Road. There were multiple utilities requiring relocation in the bridge areas and all overhead utilities were relocated underground. KSE coordinates construction with various stakeholders such as Atlantic County Engineering, Cape Atlantic Soils Conservation, Egg Harbor Township Police and Mayor’s office, various Turnpike Authority departments, and numerous utilities.
