KSE Rocky Hill Team Wins ACE Award at CT Society of Civil Engineers Dinner

KS Engineers, P.C. (KSE) proudly received the 2026 Achievement in Civil Engineering (ACE) Award at the ASCE CSCE Awards Dinner, recognizing our work on Auxiliary Lanes, Resurfacing, and Safety Improvements on I-95, Stamford, CT (CTDOT #0135-0346).

The project involved the addition of auxiliary lanes along northbound and southbound directions of I-95 between exits 6 and 7, median replacement, full-depth reconstruction and milling and paving of select sections along 4400 linear feet of mainline roadway and on and off ramps. The improvements also included replacement of roadside barriers, installation of noise walls and a new sedimentation control system, replacement and installation of new catch basins and drainage pipes, rehabilitation of four bridges including jacking of Bridge 0024 employing a full detour of traffic, installation of new IMS system and new permanent illumination. In addition, the project scope also included replacement of roadside and overhead signage and new pavement markings.

The project employed a complex, six-phase Maintenance and Protection of Traffic scheme with permanent lane closures over various periods during the entirety of the job. The $65 million construction project was delivered in just over two years using the Design-Build alternative delivery method.

KSE served as the Prime Designer, Engineer of Record, Construction Quality Control Administrator and Manager, working with the contractor on this critical project for commuters in southwestern Connecticut. KSE also directed the QC Program development which involved creating a project-specific, Quality Management Plan and numerous Quality Control Plans along with on-site construction inspection and material testing.

A sincere thank you to our project team, as well as our partners and client. The hard work of all involved made this achievement possible.
