The Community College of Philadelphia (CCP) intends to construct a high-quality technology facility for Automotive Technology learning and additional spaces for career focused trades. The project includes the demolition of an existing approximate 10,000 SF. building and associated facilities; construction of a new approximate 25,000 SF building with associated improvements such as walkways, landscaping, lighting, and new parking lot.
KS Engineers, P.C. (KSE) is the civil engineer responsible for the civil/site design of the improvements, all site permitting including zoning approvals and approval for stormwater management from the Philadelphia Water Department. The stormwater management practices includes a green roof and a subsurface infiltration basin.
KSE has obtained permits from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and the City of Philadelphia Department of Streets (DOS).
KSE is providing site design for a parking lot to include 72 vehicle spaces. The parking lot is off site from the building location and is a reconstruction of an existing parking lot. New landscaping and striping is to be installed as well as a controlled entrance with vehicle gate arm. The parking lot is to be permitted in two stages so as to update the existing use and propose as an accessory off –site parking lot for the new building.
The project is scheduled to begin construction in April of 2020 and KSE will provide construction services for the duration of the work.
