KS Engineers, P.C. (KSE) as the prime consultant is responsible for providing in-depth inspection and structural load ratings for 62 NJ Transit Undergrade Bridges located along the Bergen County Line, Morristown Line, and Raritan Valley Line.
As the prime consultant, KSE was responsible for the following:
- In-depth structural inspection including hands-on inspection of all fracture-critical members
- Inspection of ties, rails, and approach embankments
- Update BIS (Bridge Information System) input forms and BRMS (Bridge Report Management System) files and photos.
- Update Cooper E load-rating using maximum and normal ratings
- Preparation of detailed reports using NJ Transit “Inspection Report Format” and criteria
- Repair recommendations and cost estimates for major repair and maintenance items
- The Lead Team Leader performed intense QA/QC during the field work to coordinate the data collection among the teams. This proved to be invaluable during the report writing phase.
- Pictures and sketches were used in the field notes to illustrate conditions found. “A picture is worth a thousand words.”
