Project Description

KS Engineers, P.C. (KSE), has recently been retained by the Nassau County Department of Public Works, to perform all the design services in connection with the preparation of Advance Detail Plans that include contract drawings, specifications, schedules and estimates, and all required permits, for the reconstruction of this bridge in Great Neck Plaza, NY. The bridge was built circa 1955 and crosses the LIRR between the Little Neck and Great Neck stations of the Port Washington branch. The project requires extensive coordination with the LIRR/MTA, NYSDOT and various other state agencies such as NYS Department of State, NYSDOS, NYSDEC, USACOE, and all applicable stakeholders will be required for permits purposes, religious institutions, schools, businesses, and office buildings.

 

KSE role will be to develop plans, specifications and estimates in compliance with NYSDOT Specifications, Highway Design Manual and Bridge Design Manual. Additional tasks will include the provision of study, surveying, investigation / inspection, ADA compliance, drainage investigation, testing, engineering design, accident analysis, traffic counts, load rating analysis, AutoCAD drafting, maintenance and protection of traffic plans, scheduling, design review and other design related tasks.

 

Initially, KSE will inspect the bridge and recommend alternatives to rehabilitate / repair / replace the bridge substructure and superstructure to improve safety and ridership experience for all users, and prepare a bridge rehabilitation report for the reconstruction.

 

KSE may eventually be asked to perform some services during the construction phase.
