As the nation’s infrastructure continues to age, a significant portion of existing bridges, viaducts, and culverts—across both rural and urban environments—require detailed evaluation, rehabilitation, or replacement. KS Engineers, P.C. (KSE) provides comprehensive structural inspection and assessment services to support the safety and longevity of these critical assets. Our team performs condition surveys and federally mandated inspections, including National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) and biennial inspections, as well as structural integrity evaluations, load ratings, fatigue assessments, and scour analyses in accordance with applicable AASHTO and agency guidelines.
KSE’s bridge inspection capabilities encompass highway and railroad bridges, including hands-on inspections, fracture-critical member evaluations, and underwater inspections of substructure elements such as abutments, piers, and bulkheads. We also conduct hydrographic and fathometer surveys to assess scour conditions and channel stability. In addition, KSE provides inspection services for ancillary structures, including overhead sign structures, high-mast lighting towers, and building facades in compliance with New York City Local Law 11.
To support asset management, KSE develops computerized bridge management systems that enable efficient tracking of inspection data, condition ratings, and maintenance needs. Our engineers also perform specialized evaluations, including concrete durability assessments and seismic vulnerability analyses, to enhance structural performance and resilience.
KSE leverages advanced technologies to improve inspection efficiency and responsiveness. Field personnel utilize tablet-based data collection systems and wireless communication to produce real-time inspection reports and transmit high-resolution imagery. Through secure VPN access, engineers can coordinate with office resources and clients directly from the field.
This capability is critical during lane closures or track outages, where rapid communication of structural deficiencies is essential. In the event of a “flag” condition, KSE transmits detailed information in real time, allowing clients to make immediate decisions while access and traffic control remain in place, minimizing disruptions and avoiding remobilization costs.
KSE’s experience ranges from providing inspection personnel to full-service inspection program management for bridges, elevated structures, culverts, and related assets. We have strong credentials as both a prime and subconsultant on complex infrastructure inspection assignments, delivering reliable and high-quality services.
